Transition to App-Based Notifications for Free FireTEXT® Accounts

What Does "FREE USERS ONLY!" Mean?
The label "FREE USERS ONLY!" designates exclusive access to special benefits, updates, or features available only to users on our free service tier. This tier provides essential services at no cost, supporting roles and agencies that are crucial to public safety and operations.
Examples include dispatchers who send messages for fire departments, jailers and sheriff's offices that adhere to our terms of use, sponsored departments, skywarn users, Arkansas Weather Watchers, and other agencies that have been grandfathered into this free tier.
We want to express our gratitude for your continued trust and support in using FireTEXT® as your emergency communication service. It is our mission to provide reliable and effective communication solutions to agencies and organizations like yours, and we are committed to maintaining this service free of charge.
However, with rising operational costs and new state and federal regulations, we need to make some adjustments to ensure we can continue to offer our services at no cost to our valued free account users.
Starting immediately, we will be transitioning to an app-based notification system for all users on free accounts.
Here’s what this means for you:
- Text Message Notifications: Free accounts will no longer receive notifications via text message. All alerts and messages will be accessible through the app only.
- In-App Features: You will still have access to all in-app features, including notifications, responses, and chat functions.
- App-Based Notifications: You will continue to receive all notifications through the FireTEXT® app. This ensures you stay informed and can respond promptly to emergencies.
Sending Long Messages:
If you need to send longer messages, we recommend using the Announcements feature within the FireTEXT® console. Simply click the Megaphone icon to send announcements. Announcements are sent in-app and can be as long as necessary, without the restrictions that apply to text messages.
We encourage all users to make the most of the app's features for a more seamless and efficient communication experience.
For our paid users, the service remains unchanged. Paid accounts will continue to receive both app notifications, text message alerts and all paid features, providing a comprehensive communication solution.
We believe this transition will help us maintain the high quality of our service while keeping it free for your agency or organization. We encourage you to download and regularly use the FireTEXT® app to ensure you receive all critical updates and can fully utilize its features.
